Children are involved in discussing their activities and how they feel about them from the beginning of their time in the setting. Teachers, through discussion and observation, make detailed assessments of each child’s progress, keeping careful records that build a comprehensive picture over the course of the year. Many of these records include sample work and photographs, which are shared with parents Assessmentkeeping them informed on their academic advancement and overall development. Assessments give insight into children’s interests, achievements and possible difficulties in their learning, from which next steps in learning and teaching can be planned. It also helps ensure early identification of Special Educational Needs and particular abilities. Practitioners can identify areas of improvement.
At AKG, children’s progress is monitored in all the seven areas of learning on a regular basis. Individual progress is observed and recorded which form a basis for lesson plans to meet the necessary goals. These assessments are shared with the parents on a termly basis.
